Well since you like comments and faves, I'll comment and fave.

I have a BA in history from UMF, as of 5/22/2002.  I'm quite a generalist, rather than delving into anything specific.

HISTORY FOR THE WIN!!!

Here are some of my favorite historical subjects. :)

1. History of Christianity (the early Christian movement, the persecutions of Christians in Roman Empire, Emperor Constantine I's First Council of Nicaea and legalization of Christianity in Roman Empire, the East-West Schism in 1054 AD, Catholic Inquisitions throughout the continent of Europe, the Crusades, Protestant Reformation, Thirty Years' War, Counter Reformation, the religion's spread and influence in non-European countries throughout the world including China, etc.)
2. History of Communism (the establishment of Soviet Union by the Bolsheviks, Russian Civil War, Russian Revolution, Spanish Civil War, the Chinese Red Army's Long March, Chinese Civil War, Second Sino-Japanese War, the Eastern Front during World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Sino-Soviet Split, Cuban Revolution, Cuban Missile Crisis, Warsaw Pact, the Revolutions of 1989, the collapse of Soviet Union in 1991, etc.)
3. Ancient Israel and Judah (From the emergence of the Kingdom of Israel as an important local power in the 9th century BCE and the destruction of Judah at the hands of the Neo-Babylonian Empire to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD during the Great Jewish Revolt and the birth of rabbinical Judaism)
4. Ancient Rome (From the birth of Roman Republic to the split between Western and Eastern Roman Empires
5. The Three Kingdoms period in China after the collapse of Han Dynasty (From the Yellow Turban Rebellion and Dong Zhuo's reign of terror to the rise and decline of Shu, Wei and Wu states)
6. Muslim conquests (From the rise of Muhammad in the 7th century and the rivalry between the Sunni and Shia sects of Islamic faith after the death of Muhammad to the rise of Ottoman Empire and the destruction of the Byzantine Empire)
7. Mongol Empire (From the unification of Mongol and Turkic tribes under Genghis Khan's leadership to the fall of Mongol-led Yuan Dynasty and birth of Ming Dynasty)
8. French Revolution (From abolition of the French monarchy to the establishment of a secular and democratic republic that became increasingly authoritarian and militaristic and the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte)
9. History of Buddhism (From the birth of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama in the 6th century BCE to the development of the Theravada, Mahyana and Vajrayana traditions and its spread through Central and Northern Asia and Southeast Asia)
10. British Empire (English ReformationAtlantic slave trade, Industrial Revolution, colonization of Americas, Abolition of Slavery in 1807, scramble for Africa, Opium Wars with Qing Dynasty, partition of India which led to the split between India and Pakistan, partition of Palestine which ignited the Arab-Israeli conflict, etc.)

Oh! I'll surely use this, if you don`t mind of course. I'm trully a History nerd (Proof:[link])... So I'll be honoured to use this great stamp.
I see you love "ships of the line" and naval history from the XVIIIth century onwards. Great choice!

I friggin' love History for the amount of conspiracies and mysteries that are found amidst its yellowed pages! :happybounce: So much speculation, so many theories to listen to! Oooh, it appeals my brain cells just the thought of those words!

*clears throat* But that doesn't mean I would ignore the other events that have happened in the past alongside with WW2 and the Roman Empire. ;) As of the moment, these events act as a lesson for our current generation to learn and avoid some of our past mistakes so that we may... how do you say it, 'progress' to a better future, as many would have put it? :)

My dad has told me about some aspects of history, and then we converse on it. Since I'm obsessed with Queen Mary's reign (just before she was overthrown by her sister Princess (soon Queen) Elizabeth I) and our ancestors were in England at the time guarding royalty and junk I want to see if we have any diaries from then or something! We have tons of letters of correspondence between a slave owner and his slave. The slave owner of course, is my ancestor. I haven't gotten my hands on them yet, but I will eventually!

It's really exciting, until you hear things repeated again and again... Tch. My current history teacher often asks me to correct him or if he's right about some things (especially now that we're doing geography on Asia at the moment). So ummm yea I'll quit rambling now :"D

THISTHISTHISTHIS A THOUSAND TIMES THIS. We got our independence, awesome, okay, I get it. Now tell me why the fuck you don't know that Prussia used to e a country, or how northern Italy belonged to Austria-Hungary, but the south belonged to Spain.

Seriously, the only thing we cover about WW2 was "Germany is evil, the killed people, we dropped an atomic bomb and we're awesome" That's...really not right. And then you don't even get onto the kids who end up hating on me and some of the others who are proud to be German. -.-

Agreed. We learned absolutely nothing about European empires. Other than british, but we were directly affected by it, And the Roman empire, required learning in every country,I think. The Austro-Hungarian empire, Former Yugoslavia, Prussian empire, etc. were all lost to us.

Also, WHY THANK YOU. :iconipoopedplz:

I actually started talking about Prussia and Lichtenstein in class one day, My teacher never even knew it was a country.

"Lichtenstein? Isn't that a place in Switzerland?" :iconotlplz:

We never even talked about a Anglo-Japanese alliance or Italy's switching from the axis to allies. Again, the only things covered in WW2 were the holocaust and the bombing of Hiroshima. In the cold war; they never mention Prussia either. I am truly disappointed. That's why I can't wait till I get out of this hell-hole called middle school and get to take World history.

Even better? We have a whole year with no history except for West Virginia -.- I honestly could care less. I didn't choose to move here, I'd rather be back in Ohio, why can't we talk about the 100 year war instead?

wait...thank you for what?

I don't think it's the end of the world if someone doesn't know every small country there is....most people don't remember all the slavic countries, not to mention some small islands that have so little to do with history.

The not-knowing-the-countries thing doesn't even bother me that much. It's much more the fact that here, in America, even our world history has little to do with the world. I do understand it, but even our history/geography teacher? It makes me laugh a little inside eveytime I think about it x3
